Zumba is a dance fitness program created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez during the 1990s and involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic music. The choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue and mambo. Squats and lunges are also included. Participants are encouraged to go at their own pace with the class rule being: You don’t know a move? Shake it til you make it! Instructors will rotate weekly and include Raymond Major and Delia Bailey.
